9:30 AM–Zhongshan Film City(中山影视城)
Step into a cinematic time machine.Unlike any other attraction in the region,Zhongshan Film City is a sprawling movie studio built like a real town,featuring meticulously recreated streets from China’s late Qing and Republican eras.As you walk through the“Old Shanghai”district,you’ll see vintage trams,old fashioned teahouses,and colonial style bank buildings—many of which have appeared in famous Chinese period dramas.

11:30 AM–Sunwen West Road(孙文西路)&Snack Break
From film fantasy to real life history,you’ll now walk along Sunwen West Road,the heart of Zhongshan’s old commercial district.This pedestrian only street is lined with stunning Qilou(arcade)buildings—a unique architectural style combining Chinese,European and Southeast Asian elements,built by wealthy overseas Chinese in the 1920s.The pastel facades,wrought iron balconies and Roman columns make it one of the most photogenic streets in Guangdong.

1:00 PM–Xiangshan Commercial Culture Museum(香山商业文化博物馆)
Housed inside a beautifully restored former bank building on Sunwen West Road,this small but fascinating museum tells the story of Zhongshan(formerly known as Xiangshan)as a cradle of modern Chinese commerce.Learn how local merchants built trading networks across Southeast Asia and even to San Francisco.The exhibits include old shop signs,abacuses,scales,and even a recreated 19th century general store.
Why is this interesting?Many of China’s first department stores,insurance companies and modern banks were founded by people from this very county.You’ll walk away understanding why Zhongshan is called the“hometown of overseas Chinese.”
2:00 PM–Zhongshan Museum(中山博物馆)
Just a five minute walk away,the Zhongshan Museum offers a deeper dive into local history,art and revolutionary heritage.The museum complex includes several historic buildings,such as the former county government office and a beautifully preserved ancestral hall.Highlights include:

3:00 PM–Zhongshan Fufeng Wen Tower(中山阜峰文塔)
Your final stop is a quiet,leafy park where the Fufeng Wen Tower rises gracefully.This seven storey,octagonal brick pagoda was first built during the Ming Dynasty(circa 1608)and served as a“literary tower”—a feng shui structure believed to bring scholarly success to the town.Climb the narrow,winding staircase to the top for a panoramic view of Zhongshan’s old town and the distant Qi’ao Island.
The tower is surrounded by ancient banyan trees and elderly locals playing Chinese chess or practicing tai chi.Take a deep breath,enjoy the breeze,and reflect on a day that took you from movie sets and colonial arcades to museums and a Ming era pagoda.
4:00 PM–Return to Guangzhou
Your guide will drive you back to your Guangzhou hotel(arrival around 5:30–6:00 PM depending on traffic).Say goodbye to your guide with a head full of stories and a camera full of memories.
